Screen
Marble
Bas-relief
71x8x45.5
First half 11th c.

Screen carved on both sides (type 8). From the remnants details it is possible to perceive some elements of the figurative scene: a leftbound walking elephant is set in the middle of the scene, possibly fighting against a lion on the left; the elephant possibly carries a personage on his back. On the right of the elephant are two palmette-like features, possibly belonging to a tree that could have had a symmetrical development on the adjoining panel. Between these vegetal features and the elephant is a space left that could bear the relief of another animal.
Side B: the upper band is plain (no inscription or other decoration executed, possibly because it was left unfinished). The running animals carved in the lower decorative band are, from the right: a bird, a dog, two hares. Side A: the face seems heavily abraded, only the plain stripes remain. There are other 4 transennas of the same type.
