Late 12th - early 13th c.
Fragment of a red monochrome square tile, with lightly oblique edges, cut upward. Fine fabric, identical to the one identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25). The red wash unevenly covers the front surface, leaving some portions unslipped, as a result they appear orangish. There is a small green glaze drop on the front surface. The surfaces in relief of the decoration as well as most part of the frame are completely worn out, with no more slip or glaze. The rear surface is quite even. The tile is slightly overfired. Moulded relief decoration representing a bird belonging to a more complex pattern comprising two birds, probably peacocks, heraldically facing each other and a central small tree. The central motif is enclosed in a beaded frame. Similar to IG6242.
