Moulded relief decorated tile
Fired clay
Mould
4x0.8 cm
Late 12th - early 13th c.

Small fragment of an opaque turquoise monochrome square tile, with cut straight edges. Fine fabric, identical to the one identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25). An earthy deposit covers the front surface. The rear surface is uneven and rough. Moulded relief decoration, the central motif cannot be identified due to the small dimensions of the item. The central motif is framed by an octagonal fillet whose sides extended so as to meet those of the nearby tiles, and form a geometrically intertwining pattern. The moulded decoration is rendered in very low relief.
