Late 12th - early 13th c.

Two matching fragments of a red monochrome tile, with cut straight edges. Fine fabric, identical to the one identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25). The wash unevenly covers the parts in relief of the decoration, leaving many of them unslipped, as a result they have a lighter/yellowish colour. The glaze is good and glossy. The rear surface is quite even and smooth, and shows parallel short grooves, probably left by a tool. Moulded relief decoration, possibly recognisable as the vegetal pattern "square and trefoil palmettes" (see tile IG6228). Indeed, there are some elements that could be identified: a trefoil palmette enclosed in a circular fillet and part of a small bud rising from the same fillet. The central motif is framed by a simple fillet. The moulded decoration is rendered in high and bold relief.
