Late 12th - early 13th c.

Complete mustard monochrome square tile, with cut straight edges. The tile is slightly warped. Fine fabric, similar to the one identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25). The glaze shows many crackles; it is matt and turns brown in the central part of the front surface, possibly due to a burst of flame during the firing process. The rear surface is quite smooth and uneven; it has a lighter colour than the ceramic body, due to the firing process. Moulded relief decoration representing two birds, probably peacocks, heraldically facing each other and a central leaved branch/small tree. The central motif is enclosed in a beaded frame.
