Almost complete olive green monochrome square tile, with cut straight edges. Medium-fine buff fabric, similar to those identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25/35). The front surface is cracked. The glaze is good and glossy. The rear surface is uneven and rough, and shows thin short incisions, possibly left by a tool or a support during the manufacturing process or the drying. Moulded relief decoration representing a rampant lion in profile, facing the dexter side, with its left forefoot in the air. The animal is rendered with gaping jaws and a vegetal scroll coming out from its mouth, and shows a large tail raised with a vegetal end. The central motif is enclosed in a beaded frame. The tile is warped, appearing curved in section, it is badly fired and defective, with an inflated corner also showing two large irregular holes. The opposite corner is missing; as its fractures are glazed, it is possible to suppose that the tile did not have one corner before the glazing and the firing. Moreover, it shows a large piercing hole. Therefore, the tile can be possibly considered a waster or a second-rate defective item.
