Late 12th - early 13th c.

Fragmentary almost complete red monochrome square tile, with cut straight edges; only one corner is lost. Fine fabric, very similar to the one identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25, but with little more small white inclusions). The front surface is cracked. Some portions of the glaze show a white alteration layer. The rear surface is very uneven and rough. Moulded relief decoration representing a running/rampant gazelle in profile, facing the dexter side, with its left forefoot in the air, its left hind foot raised, showing a large tail raised with a vegetal end. The central motif is framed by an octagonal fillet and outer square frame overlapping, the sides of the octagonal fillet extended so as to meet those of the nearby tiles, and form a geometrically intertwining pattern.
