Late 12th - early 13th c.

Complete brown monochrome hexagonal tile, in the shape of regular hexagon, with cut straight edges. Fine fabric, identical to the one identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25). The glaze is good and glossy. Small portions of the relief decoration are worn out, with no more slip or glaze. A calcareous deposit covers the front surface. The rear surface is uneven. Moulded relief decoration representing a central equilateral triangle from which there sprout six shoots with buds, alternately bare or with two leaves at the base. The central motif is framed by a simple fillet. The decoration is slightly different from the most common "triangle and buds" pattern found in many tiles, because the central triangle is smaller and is characterized by concave sides and tapered tips, while usually it is larger and with straight sides, and the buds have the flared leaves pointing downwards, while usually they are depicted pointing upwards. Considering these features, this decoration is closer to the "lozenge and buds" pattern (see, for example, C3422, IG6217).
