Late 12th - early 13th c.

Fragment of a yellow monochrome hexagonal tile, in the shape of elongated hexagon, with cut straight edges. The tile is made of a medium-fine fabric, similar to those identified for the glazed vessels of the Ghazni pottery corpus (Fabric no. 25/35). The slip unevenly covers the front surface, leaving many portions unslipped, as a result they appear darker. The rear surface is even and smooth. Moulded relief decoration representing a rampant or running quadruped (hare, gazelle or equine) with long upright ears. The animal is rendered in profile, facing the dexter side, with its left forefoot in the air. The central motif is framed by a polygonal fillet whose sides extended so as to meet those of the nearby tiles, and form a geometrically intertwining pattern.
