Durga Mahisasuramardini

Very high relief; hair ornaments obtained from mould 23m2 (garland/plaques), 23m1 (disks), 23m11 (scrolls), 23m13 (one brooch-like plaque) 
H: 64 cm ca.
Late period
Head of Durga Mahisasuramardini (sculptural group no. 40) with frowned eyebrows, third (vertical) eye, hair ornaments including a simanta in the shape of crescent above the forehead and ear ornaments. Black paint on hair, eye outline and eyebrows; red on hairline, eyelids, nostrils, garland and round plaques; blue paint on tuft; gilding on face.
