Maitreya

Very high relief; decorative plaque obtained from mould; completed by engraving

Late period

Maitreya seated in padmasana, with right shoulder and chest exposed, right hand presumably in abhayamudra and left hand down, probably holding a small flask (kamandalu). Body ornaments: earrings, two strand necklace with pendant with rounded edge, garland and wristlets. Large nimbus and body-halo. Red paint on body-halo, black and gilding on hair.
