Late period
Head of a bodhisattva with small urna in relief, half-closed bulging eyes and hair rendered by rows of applied locks. Black paint on hair; red paint on the left iris. Blackened by accidental fire.
Head presumably from one of the four major bodhisattva images at the Buddha’s sides, possibly on the vaulted passages.
