Buddha (niche)

Very high relief; locks of hair and scrolls obtained from mould

Late period

Buddha seated in dhyanamudra on a plain throne, in a trefoil false-niche, with lower frieze and male deity on the upper right side. Buddha wrapped in overrobe with hands holding the hem of the robe (covered feet). Niche with arch decorated with running scroll. Frieze showing an upper band with birds flying to right and lower band with large running scroll. On the right, deity turned to the Buddha, with naked torso, necklace with oval pendant, keyura and beaded wristlet at the right arm.
